Youth Adventure Programs (YAPs) in Fort Kent, Madawaska, Caribou, and Presque Isle are going strong, as more and more youth take advantage of the opportunity to be active in the outdoors.
Nature hikes and scavenger hunts, fun games and cooperative problem-solving initiatives, along with introductory training activities are the order of the day at each individual YAP venue. MWSC Coaches Austin, Melissa and Mark are pleased to be working with such enthusiastic young people.
Program participants in Caribou yesterday enjoyed hunting for animal tracks on the trails of the Caribou High School Ski Center yesterday, as well as playing 'Capture the Flag' and making snow angels, as more than an inch of snow covered the area.
After taking a break for Thanksgiving week, the coaches and kids are hoping for enough snow cover to be able to ski during the first two weeks of December. Cross your fingers!
YAPs will conclude the week of December 8, as the youngsters go off to participate in in-school, after-school, and club ski programs during the winter.
