Recent Update:

February 16, 2010 - Lake Placid NorAm
Great conditions this past weekend in Lake Placid. A good size crew was on hand and the MWSC Team was back in action after a short break and return home from IBU Cups in Germany and the Czech Republic as well as the Youth & Jr. World Champs in Sweden.

In the sprint race Walt Shepard placed 2nd with 3 misses and posted a strong ski time just missing out on the top spot by 8 seconds to Zach Hall. Russell and Bill placed 6th and 7th repsectively. BethAnn and Grace finished 4th and 5th in the Women's race with 3 and 2 misses each. Andrea won the Youth Women's race with 7 hits on the day.

In the Pursuit, Grace and BethAnn traded places placing 6th and 7th. Andrea again won the Youth Women's race, but this time it went down to the final stage where strong nerves helped her hit 4 of 5 to seal the win. In the Men's race, Bill had his best shooting performance hitting 17 of 20 placing 2nd followed by Walt with 7 misses on the day. Russell was just 22 seconds back in 6th place with 8 penalties.

Overall a great weekend to be in LP for a little bit of racing and Olympic festivities. Up next is some local x-c racing and U-26 Champs in Estonia.

January 27, 2010 - Torsby, Sweden
The Youth and Jr. World Championships are set to get started January 27th with both of the Men's Individual competitions, the Women will compete in their first race the following day. 33 nations registered for this year's Y/JWCH's making it one of the largest to date. Over 500 athletes and staff, not including families will inhabit the small Swedish town over the next week.

Leading the way for the MWSC is Grace Boutot. The now veteran leads a Team of young rookies in their first World Championships. Boutot was the winner of a silver medal at last year's YWCH's in the Individual race and also a 9th place in the Sprint.

Andrea Mayo is making her debut at the YWCH's. After some strong performances at the Youth Team Trials, Mayo is coming to these Championships on the up looking for a strong performance especially in the Individual race.
