Brian Hamel - Board President
After joining Thompson Associates in April 2005, on January 1, 2007, Brian became an equity partner in the newly formed entity of Thompson-Hamel, LLC. In April 2009, Brian became Managing Partner of the firm. Brian is a Series 7 Registered Representative and a licensed Life & Health Insurance Producer, providing clients with estate planning, investment and insurance services.

Prior to becoming a partner in Thompson-Hamel, LLC, Brian provided consulting services through Hamel Enterprises, LLC, a full service consulting firm advising clients in the fields economic development, business attraction, base closure redevelopment, and business consulting matters. In addition, Brian was the President & CEO of the Loring Development Authority of Maine (LDA), and oversaw the development of the Loring Commerce Centre in Limestone, Maine from the LDA's inception in 1994 until April 2005. Due in large part to the efforts of Brian and his team, the former Loring Air Force Base has been transformed into a vibrant economic engine, bringing much-needed jobs to northern Maine.

In recognition of his accomplishments, Brian has been honored as Developer of the Year by the National Association of Installation Developers in Washington, D.C., as the State of Maine's Champion for Economic Growth by the Maine Development Foundation, as the Citizen of the Year by the Presque Isle, Maine Chamber of Commerce, as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Presque Isle Rotary Club and a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable (MDRT).

Brian has amassed 28 years of broad-based business knowledge during his career, including his experiences at Thompson-Hamel, LLC, in base closure development in Maine and New Hampshire, as an executive for a manufacturing conglomerate in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at one of the world's largest international accounting firms in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Brian's contributions to public service currently include his role as and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maine Winter Sports Center, Board of Director member of the publicly traded company of Maine & Maritimes Corporation, Chairman of the Board of the Northern Maine Community College's Foundation Executive Board, Corporator at The Aroostook Medical Center, a Board of Director Member of the Maine Community Foundation, Board Member of the Maine Community Supporting Foundation, a Board of Director member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club, and as a mentor in the Central Aroostook County Mentoring Program. Brian's past service has included being the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maine Community College System, Board member of the National Association of Installation Developers, Moderator of the Presque Isle Congregational Church, Board member of the University of Maine at Presque Isle's Board of Visitors and Foundation, and he was a general election candidate for U.S. Congress in Maine's Second District in 2004.

Brian and his wife, Gail, reside in Presque Isle, Maine, have been married for 28 years, and are the proud parents of three daughters, Natalie, Abby and Molly, and grandparents to Annabelle. Brian enjoys spending time with his family, camping, hiking, running (11 marathons, including 7 Boston Marathons), biking, golfing, skiing, traveling, playing cribbage and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Brian is also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots!


Carl Theriault - Board Treasurer
The owner of Valley Auto in Fort Kent, Theriault has been instrumental in the development of the region's cross country and alpine skiing culture. As the former development manager for the Town of Kent, Mr. Theriault has a wealth of experience to lend to the Maine Winter Sports Center.


Trina Hosmer
Ms. Hosmer was on the first U.S. Womens Olympic Cross Country Ski Team in 1972. She is also an active Master's racer and plays a vital role in the New England Ski Association (NENSA). She recently competed in the World Master's in Brusson, Italy and won 4 gold medals for each of her races in her age class. She is now retired (not from skiing) from working at University of Massachusetts for 29 years and living in Stowe, VT.


Lee Todd
Lee Todd is Vice President of the Special Olympics, and is a Board member of the United States Ski Association and the United States Olympic Committee. Mr. Todd is also Chairman of the Cross Country Committee of the United States Ski Association.


Bill Haggett
Bill Haggett grew up in Maine, graduated from Colby and spent most of his working life in shipbuilding, where his service included 8 years as CEO of Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine and 5 years as President of Saint John Shipbuilding in New Brunswick, Canada. Since retiring from shipbuilding in 1997, he has devoted his business activities to managing medium sized companies in the food industry with major operations located in northern Maine. Haggett serves on numerous for-profit and non-profit boards, and recently completed 5 years as Chairman of the Board of Maine Maritime Academy. Bill is also co-chair of the United States Biathlon Development Committee.

From 1985 through 1996 he was an investor and board member of the Sugarloaf Mountain Corporation in Maine. He and his family have owned property at Sugarloaf for many years and are active in winter sports. Their year around home is in West Bath, Maine.
